With their previous collaborations, Maison Margiela and Reebok celebrated the Tabi toe, using it across both the Instapump Fury as well as the Classic Leather. For their newest capsule, the two opt for an art direction far more understated — its main dish, the Club C, superimposed with images of itself.

This effect is known as trompe l’oeil, a technique signature to the high fashion house. Both the white and dark grey colorway feature this contrasted touch, each seam, fold, and the like mimicked with the a graphic of the opposite tone. This effectively applies a deceptive 2D finish to the 3-Dimensional form, pushing the Club C out of its norm though not by an extreme degree. The branded touches elsewhere follow a similar sense of subtlety, with monochromatic tongue patches and a small extra stitch at the heel.
